Last year in America there were less than 15,000 murders. For someone who lives in a town of less than 2,000 human souls that appears to be a huge number. Families and friends that are afflicted with the death of someone they know via murder tend to feel that one murder is unbearable. With less than 15,000 murders in America, and with approximately 9,000 of those murders committed with a gun. In a population of 315,000,000, nine thousand deaths by murder is a comparatively numerical insignificant fraction of the population in the area of .0000285%. I have a compassionate heart for those who suffer through the loss of a loved one period, no matter what the cause. If we took away the rights of people based upon equipment or events that affected such a small portion of the population no one would be allowed to drive or eat. People who die in car accidents every year are a much larger problem than guns. There occur over 10,000,000 car accidents every year. According to Fox Business News 2 million people will be injured in those 10 million accidents. Of course car ownership is not protected by the Constitution of the United States like gun owner ship is. I can legitimately understand the government and people getting all whipped up about something like food born pathogens. According to the CDC 48,000,000 people get sick every year from those pathogens. Of those 48 million 128,000 are hospitalized every year. Of those 128 thousand 3,000 human souls died in the year 2011 from food born pathogens.
Before unreasonable minds prevail in destroying or limiting the right of honest citizens to own guns lets look at the problem of guns with a moderate eye. Since guns effect such a miniscule portion of humanity, I think the question we need to ask is; Why all the fear/anger/misguided imaginings towards guns. If you are one of those people who fear guns please ask yourself why? Something, I learned a long time ago is people fear what they don't know. This irrational, hence misappropriated fear of guns would lead a reasoned thinker to infer many of you who would disarm honest citizens, have never owned or used a gun.
I was astounded that on the same day the shooting took place there was a mass stabbing in China that directly affected 22 children and 1 85 year old adult. In a similar country where gun ownership is limited the UK there are 130,000 adults injured in knife attacks each year, that number does not take into account knife incidents involving those under 16 years of age. The point being is this. There are so many real problems in the world why should we waste our governments time/money/resources trying to catch read herrings? People who think outlawing guns will reduce violence in any quantitative amount do not understand human nature. Regardless of what tool is used until we deal with the real issue which is the corrupt nature within every human. Until that can be outlawed, violence will continue, it will only take different forms and use different equipment right down to bare hands, sticks, stones, ropes and right up to the latest technology, guns, robots, airplanes, and cars. Since government and department of education is woefully inept at taking care to cultivate the human mind not to mention the soul lets have some honest dialog about how we can best cultivate the human mind and soul. This cultivation is best achieved with patience using religion, reason, and understanding.
One of the humorous thoughts I just had while thinking this whole none issue through is this. The people who are jumping through hoops to outlaw or limit gun possession are the same ones who think there should be no laws against drugs. The groups who are anti-gun but pro-choice when it comes to abortion display the utmost inconsistency in their intellect. I would love to discuss this issue; down this line of thought regarding respect for human life. Most people would be to unreasonable to discourse with me from an intellectually honest position. Looking at how many human lives are snuffed out before they even have a chance to take their very first breath and the anti gun lobby jumps at outlawing guns. Maybe the pro life wing should take a page from the pro death wing and work harder not to outlaw abortion but just the tools used to commit those murders.
